With his artistic settings, objects and installations, Christoph Medicus 'builds' not only ensembles of spaces, some of which seem like playrooms, rest rooms or waiting rooms, but small world-spaces or world-space-objects that follow their own philosophical-poetic logic and attempt to open up new spaces for action. Medicus is interested in aspects of the spatial turn and social questions, in particular the effects of living space and environment on the individual as well as on group processes and communalisation. The playfulness in Medicus' works often enters into dialogue with objects that reflect structures of power. In this way, he seeks a way to thematise violence without letting this practice itself become an everyday violence. With his works, Medicus mostly opens up possibilities for action and shows art's potential for reflection and interaction.
